Chokpak Ornithological station
The small pass between the Western Tien Shan mountains and the Karatau mountain range plays an important role in bird migration. In the Chokpak pass, the lowest point between the two mountain ranges, fourty years ago a bird ringing station was established for scientific research on this migration. You can visit the station by car from Jabagly in only twenty minutes.

Local markets near Jabagly
Without doubt the best way to taste local culture is to visit one of the markets in the neighbourhood. There is a daily market in Turar Rysqulov where food and all kinds of general stuff for living can be bought. In Turar Rysqulov you can also visit every sunday morning the cattle market where sheep, cattle and horses are sold. It is possible to combine a visit to both markets. Turar Rysqulov is about twenyfive minutes from Jabagly.

Nothing is so admirable in politics as a short memory.
