Aksu-Djabagly nature reserve
The oldest nature reserve in Central Asia has a lot to offer to visitors.
You can visit the reserve walking, by horse or by jeep, and for just a few hours,
or more than a week on hiking trips.
Rock carvings
In some parts of the Aksu-Djabagly nature reserve, old rock carvings can be
found, created by members of the Kaskabulak people about 25 centuries ago.
Caves in the Karatau mountain range
The Karatau mountain range north of the village Jabagly hides some interesting caves.
You can reach the caves by car from Jabagly in about twenty minutes.
Hodja Ahmed Yasavi mausoleum in Turkestan
One of the best conserved and interesting buildings from ancient history of
Kazakhstan is the Hodja Ahmed Yasavi mausoleum, built by Timur in the city
of Turkestan.

Chokpak Ornithological station
The small pass between the Western Tien Shan mountains and the Karatau mountain range
plays an important role in bird migration. In the Chokpak pass, the lowest point
between the two mountain ranges, fourty years ago a bird ringing station was established
for scientific research on this migration. You can visit the station by car from
Jabagly in only twenty minutes.
Local markets near Jabagly
Without doubt the best way to taste local culture is to visit one of the markets
in the neighbourhood. There is a daily market in Turar Rysqulov where food and
all kinds of general stuff for living can be bought. In Turar Rysqulov you can
also visit every sunday morning the cattle market where sheep, cattle and horses
are sold. It is possible to combine a visit to both markets. Turar Rysqulov is
about twenyfive minutes from Jabagly.
